By car:

The Rheinstraße bridge in Darmstadt will be closed until 2029. The shortest alternative routes are as follows:

From the south (A5): Take exit 27 ‘Darmstadt Eberstadt’ and follow the B3 towards ‘Darmstadt Stadtmitte’ at the traffic lights on the left. After the Darmstadt city sign, turn right at the traffic lights and follow the signs for ‘Merck Stadium’ for buses. Go straight ahead at the junction (Landskronstraße). Drive uphill and at the end of the road, turn right into Klappacher Straße. Continue straight ahead into Böllenfalltorweg. At the end, turn left into Otto-Berndt-Straße. You will see a red cogwheel in front of building L1|01.

From the north (A5): Take exit 25 ‘Weiterstadt’ and follow the signs for ‘Darmstadt Nord’. Follow the B42 towards Darmstadt. Stay in the right-hand lane. After the EAD recycling centre, turn right into Frankfurter Straße (‘Stadtmitte/Merck-Stadion’). After the ENTEGA building, you will come to a large crossroads. Turn left into Rhönring and follow the signs for TU-Lichtwiese.

From the west (A67): At the Darmstädter Kreuz motorway junction, take the direction of Darmstadt city centre. Continue to follow the signs for the city centre and then ‘TU-Lichtwiese/Merck Stadium’.

From the east (B26): The TU-Lichtwiese location is signposted.

By plane:

Frankfurt Airport is about 25 km from Darmstadt. A shuttle bus (Bus AIR/Airliner (opens in new tab)) takes just 25 minutes to get from the airport to Darmstadt Luisenplatz. Departure from Terminal 1, stand 14.

Get off at Darmstadt Luisenplatz, change to tram 2 (get off at Darmstadt TU-Lichtwiese/Campus)
